Cenotes are underground caves filled with fresh water.  The Yucatan Peninsula has thousands of them.  Cenotes are the perfect way to cool off on a hot day in Mexico.

Progresso Beach

In less than an hour you can reach Progresso Beach.  A little to the south is the beach-side community of Celestun.

It's Safe

Mexico is often regarded as a dangerous country to visit because of drug war violence.  However, the Yucatan has remained a safe haven for visitors. It's a popular tourist destination for Mexicans as well as foreigners.
